Jace meets Weston

Our good friends, Aaron and Tara came over with their little one Weston this afternoon to meet Jace for the first time. Weston and Jace are only 2 and a half months apart. We had a great time catching up and watching our boys together for the first time. We definitely look forward to many more fun times with the Barretts in the future!

Announcement & Easter Pics!

Today, we went to Target to take Jace's announcement and Easter pics with his cousins from my side. It was really fun and hectic at the same time because when one baby was happy the other was not lol! Ashley and I were on each side of the babies to assist the bigger ones with holding the little ones. Brock of course wanted to hold Jace! The last pic is of Jace laying on Junior in Ashley's arms after we finished. It is amazing to see their size difference!

New Pics of Jace!

Aunt Tonya and Jace' cousins Caden and Connor came down from California to meet him for the first time. While Tonya was down she got some really great photos of Jace. I wish we would have taken some of the boys together, but I am sure we will get some next time they are down and I am not sick.

First Week Home

We had a great first week home. Everyone is adjusting very well. The dogs are so good and they are learning to share me with Jace and we have had no problems. Jace is such a good and easy baby. I am very lucky to have a baby who sleeps through the night too!

Before we were discharged from the hospital today we got some awesome pics of Jace. The photographer did a great job and even said Jace was already photogenic lol!

Our Birth Story

Just a little update before I start the delivery story on Thursday Febraury 11th I had an appointment with the high risk doctor and he was really concerned about my blood pressure (it was up and we could not get it to go down during the visit) and the swelling in my right foot. He decided to call my regular doc and recommend he induce me within the next few days. He was concerned I may be showing signs of preganancy induced preeclampsia/hypertension. I had to get an amnio before they could set the date to make sure Jace' lungs were fully developed. I was really freaked out about the amnio, but it was not bad at all. The test came back the next morning and his lungs were fully developed so they decided to start inducing me on Sunday night February 14th.

We spent our last weekend as a family of 4 (our 2 dogs are our kids too lol). I was on bedrest, but we decided to celebrate Valentines day on Saturday. Jeremy went to Petty's Meats and got a delicious steak, sauteed mushrooms, baked potatoes, and desserts for our little celebration. It was so special and I am acutally glad now we got to spend some time together before Jace arrived.

On Sunday night, Jeremy and I arrived at the hospital and they started the whole induction process by midnight. My Mom and Mother In Law arrived at the hospital in the morning. By noon, I still was not really dialating so the doctor and I decided to start another process of induction because my only other option was a c-section. Before the nurse started the new process my water actually broke on its own. I was thrilled and what a relief that was! I spent the rest of the afternoon dialating further and got an epidural when I could no longer handle the pain. By 11pm that night, I was ready to start pushing and little Jace arrived by 12:13am the next morning. He weighed 6lbs 13oz and was 18.5 inches long. He is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen and I have never loved something so much in my entire life! I could not thank Jeremy, my Mom, and Mother In Law enough I could not have done it without them!!

33 weeks and 3 day Ultrasound

We went back to the specialist today for another ultrasound. His measurements are all on track and Jace is still very active. He is estimated to weigh 4 lbs 1.3 oz. (43% in weight which is average) and his head is at 73% which is a little above average. The specialist gave us a 10/10 and said everything looked great! We were unable to get a picture of Jace' face. The tech believed he was out of room and his face is now hiding behind my body parts. But, the tech did get some great pics of Jace' hair and boy does he have a head full of it already! He definitely gets this from Jeremy when he was a baby!!
